Gold Service Scholarship: now open for entries until Friday, 9 October
The Gold Service Scholarship has announced that the application deadline for its 2016 competition has been extended until Friday, 9 October.
Suzanne Weekes, competition secretariat, said: “We have had a number of requests for an extension and after taking these into consideration, we are now giving potential applicants an extra week to apply. We wish all our applicants the best of luck and look forward to meeting the shortlisted finalists at the regional final in November.”
Launched in 2012, the competition was created by a group of leading hospitality individuals who all share the desire to inspire a new generation of future professionals.
The Gold Service Scholarship offers 22-28 year olds the opportunity to win a bespoke prize package with a year’s worth of mentoring, learning, travel and placement opportunities from a group of the most senior service professionals in the world. Past winners, including Rebecca Dibben, James Fleming and Daniele Quattromini, have worked on placements at Buckingham Palace, Le Gavroche, the Waterside Inn and the Mandarin Oriental Hotel properties.
The competition is open to any young service professional employed in front of house, food and beverage service in the UK who has completed their training or apprenticeship in food and beverage service.
Entrants will be required to complete a series of written tasks and service challenges that form qualification to the regional final, to be held at the Langham Hotel, London. The national final is then held at the Connaught Hotel and the 2016 winner will be announced in February 2016 at the prestigious awards ceremony held at Claridges, London.
