Last chance to nominate for the Hospitality Guild Apprenticeship Awards
Businesses and colleges throughout England are being reminded that just one week remains to submit nominations for the Hospitality Guild Apprenticeship Awards 2012.
Nominations close on Friday 12 October for the Awards, which recognise and celebrate the achievements of apprentices working in hospitality and emphasise the critical role that employers, providers and mentors play in the delivery of apprenticeships.
With fantastic prizes available for the winners, Suzy Jackson, executive director of the Hospitality Guild, is encouraging any individual, training provider or business that has not yet submitted their nominations to do so soon. “We’ve had a great response so far and want to build on this momentum, so we’re hoping to increase the number of entrants to this year’s awards so that they become the premier Apprentice Awards for the hospitality industry,” said Suzy. “With fantastic prizes on offer, including a week’s work experience at Raymond Blanc’s internationally renowned two-Michelin star restaurant and hotel, Le Manoir aux Quat'Saisons, we’re preparing for a fantastic event.
“We will be showcasing the amazing talent we have in our industry and recognising the pivotal role employers, mentors and training providers play in supporting apprentices throughout their development.”
The awards, which are being held in partnership with sector skills council People 1st, are taking entries for six different categories.
- Intermediate Apprentice of the Year
- Advanced Apprentice of the Year
- Apprenticeship Mentor of the Year
- Employer of the Year: SME (fewer than 250 employees)
- Employer of the Year: Large (more than 250 employees)
- Partnership of the Year
The new awards have the full support of the National Apprenticeship Service (NAS), the Professional Association for Catering Education (PACE) and the Association of Employment and Learning Providers (AELP).
Winners will be announced on 6 December 2012 at an event in the House of Commons in London. The event will also see the apprentice category winners, and inspirational young professionals from throughout the hospitality industry, inducted into the Hospitality Guild’s Young Hall of Fame, which collectively showcases the initiatives and awards of the Guild’s partner organisations.
