2011 BII Licensee Of The Year - the search is on

2011 BII Licensee Of The Year - the search is on

Entries are now open for the 2011 BII Licensee of the Year and licensees are being urged to step forward to be in the running to win this prestigious title.

The BII Licensee of the Year award is all about people and the way they run their business, according to BII. Judges are looking for individuals or partnerships who make the best of the resources they have available. They could be running a community pub, a village local or a high street bar. The type of venue isn’t important; what is important is that entrants:

  •  Show great business ability
  • Are committed to improving themselves and their staff
  • Are passionate about the business and can speak knowledgeably about industry affairs
  • Would be a great ambassador for professionalism in licensed retail.

Entering is simple: the first stage is answering a series of true or false questions online on the BII website. Successful entrants are then invited to answer five further questions about their business and management style, after which they are whittled down again to semi-finalists. All semi-finalists are visited at their outlet and interviewed by two independent judges; six finalists will then be selected to present to a panel of judges in April 2011.

Entry to the award is open to all UK on trade licensees whether they are freeholders, tenants/lessees or managers. Entrants do not have to be a member of BII.

“Winning the 2010 BII Licensee of the Year has been the highest point of our journey so far,” said Richard and Loren Pope, 2010 BII Licensee of the Year, The Bulls Head, Repton. “It was an endorsement of our strategy and a huge boost to the team. Since winning, we have been asked to talk about our business to many audiences. It's been fascinating to meet so many industry movers and shakers."

Entry is only available through completion of the online form, which can be accessed at www.bii.org/loya.

Nominations are also accepted; simply email the name and contact details of the licensee you’d like to nominate to joannab@bii.org.

For further information or any questions regarding the Award, please contact Joanna Buston on 01276 417802 or email joannab@bii.org. The closing date for entries is Friday 7 January.
