Bestway Wholesale is celebrating 40 years in the wholesale business in 2016 since its first cash and carry depot in Acton opened in 1976.
Over the years Bestway has established an enviable reputation as the UK’s most dynamic and cost-effective wholesaler serving catering and retail customers from its 60 Bestway and Batleys branded warehouses.
However the group is not resting on its laurels and has some exciting activities planned for customers throughout 2016 with extensive 40th Anniversary branding in each of the company’s depots.
Younus Sheikh, managing director and founding member of Bestway Wholesale has seen it all over the years: “The wholesale business has changed dramatically during the last 40 years. In the beginning it was all about piling high and selling cheap to independent retailers and cafés. Now it is more about shifting perceptions rather than shifting boxes. Although cash and carry is still a major part of the business, our delivered catering operation - which is posting impressive year on year growth - is playing an increasingly important role within the business with catering sales running into the hundreds of millions of pounds.”
The group will once again focus on catering as one of its three growth pillars of the business (the others being retail symbol & club and web & digital) during 2016 having made great strides in the catering and foodservice sectors throughout 2015.
Restaurant, bars and fast food outlets are key growth areas for Bestway Wholesale catering business. Customers enjoy free delivery, two-monthly price holds on key catering and alcohol lines, dedicated support from business development executives and telesales, flexible payment terms with credit available and no credit card surcharges in addition to the widest range of food and non-food line all under one roof.
